As a young girl, Lourene had three dreams: to become a PE teacher, become a World Champion and become a mum.
Remarkably, she achieved every one of them.
She represented Australia around the world, won five World Karate Championships and became one of Australia’s original Gladiators, known as Glacier.
That success opened another extraordinary chapter when Lourene began working as Russell Crowe’s personal trainer. What was initially meant to be a short-term role developed into a five-year working relationship, helping him prepare physically for some of the most demanding roles of his career.
Russell later referred Australian cricket legend Shane Warne to Lourene as he prepared for his return to elite cricket.
Working with two of Australia’s most recognisable high performers reinforced something Lourene had always believed: success is rarely accidental. It is built through preparation, discipline and the standards you maintain when no one is watching.
From the outside, it looked as though Lourene had won at life. She had built an extraordinary career and created the family she had always dreamed of.
But behind the success, another story was unfolding.
Like so many women, Lourene slowly stopped choosing herself. She poured everything into her family, her marriage, her children and supporting everyone else’s dreams, until one day she realised she had forgotten her own.
When her marriage ended, everything changed.
She found herself raising two young daughters alone, financially uncertain, carrying significant debt and emotionally exhausted. A woman who had once stood on world podiums no longer recognised the person staring back at her in the mirror.
